Gatherings

Prayer, Scripture, leadership and work — four gatherings through the week, plus the project that is putting this property back in order.

The room we meet in

At the church · Acts 2:42

Wednesday
Nights.

Beginning 28 October at 910 Blackburn Road. The midweek gathering, in the sanctuary.

Acts 2:42 describes the first church devoting itself to four things: the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. That is the shape of Wednesday nights, and it is the shape this congregation was built on — the same one written into the 1829 class book kept by the believers who met here in farmhouses.

It is open to anyone. You do not need to attend on Sunday to come on a Wednesday, and several people only ever do the one.

The week

Four gatherings, four days

Once a month, around a table at the church. Titus puts it plainly: older women teaching what is good, and passing it to the ones coming behind them.

Rise Up
& Build.

A complete property makeover at 910 Blackburn Road — paint, pressure-washing, windows, beds and hedges.

When Nehemiah put the case to the people, their answer was four words: let us rise up and build. This is the first project of a new chapter here, and it is hands-on. Painting, washing down the siding, cleaning glass, cutting back and replanting. No skill required and no rota to join — call the church and ask when the next work day is.

2 Timothy 2:2

We are raising
up leaders.

What was entrusted to this congregation gets entrusted onward — to reliable people who will be able to teach others too.

The part nobody schedules

The half hour
after.

The most reliable ministry at Blackburn is thirty people not leaving.

A congregation this size cannot hide anyone. If you are new, someone finds out your name. If you stop coming, someone notices. If something has gone wrong in your week, it tends to get said out loud during prayer, and then followed up on Tuesday. That is not a programme and it is not on any list — it is simply what happens on ground where the same families have been turning up since before the Civil War.
